Manuscript Assessment Service

Have you written a manuscript you feel is ‘the one’? Have you been over it again and again and you’re not sure what to do next? You have slaved, bled and agonised over your current manuscript and feel it’s time to let your book baby take its first precarious steps into the world of children’s publishing. But is it ready?

For your work to stand alongside others seeking a publishing contract, it needs to have any weaknesses ironed out. In a saturated market, it must be strong among the competition, your voice clear and unique.

Distractions from your plot line need to be cut. Dialogue needs to flow, and every word needs to earn its place. Editing is hard, but it is crucial to ensure success. Removing that piece of text you thought was your strongest or cutting characters from your story if they don’t help to move it along can be emotionally challenging.

After receiving numerous requests from authors to read their work, Creative Kids Tales has expanded its resources and now offers manuscript assessments.

We are NOT Publishers, but we can assist you in getting one step closer to your publication dream.

Through the Creative Kids Tales Manuscript Assessment Service you will be provided with vital feedback regarding your manuscript’s plot, structure, characters and voice so that you may improve your work.

While the opinions of your family and friends are always nice, they’ll not give you the necessary feedback you need to grow. The last thing a potential publisher wants to hear is how much your family loved your manuscript, and telling them this is harmful.

What you will receive

  • We’ll provide a feedback sheet and detailed report on your manuscript. Please note all feedback is the opinion of the assessor only and does not guarantee acceptance by a publisher.
  • We’ll identify weaknesses within your manuscript and point out your strengths.
  • We’ll analyse language appropriateness in relation to the intended age of the reader.
  • We’ll comment on basic grammar/spelling. It is recommended that before submitting your manuscript to a publisher, in particular for books other than picture books, you engage the services of a proof -reader or editor.
