Tell us about yourself

I am a children's author who used to be an engineer, and even did a degree to be a primary school teacher. I never liked reports when i was a kid, and it turns out I still don't! Apart from writing I love playing golf, dancing round the house like a crazy person, and preparing for the inevitable zombie  apocalypse!

What is your book about?

Zombie Inspiration tells the nearly  totally absolutely slightly true tale of my journey through the zombie apocalypse as a teenager. There are certainly true parts to this story, but I won't say which ones. Aside from being a bit of an  adventure/comedy, the book also leads into the self-development side of things, looking at why zombies can inspire us! It's true! They're inspirational legends who want to eat our brains ... which is one of the things that makes them legendary. They set a goal and they take action to get it!

Who is your target audience for this book?

The book is aimed at children 9-13, however I do hope that it crosses over. I am also doing a video course which I believe can help adults and children/teenagers alike ... as long as they're prepared to put up with one or two zombie references.

What aspects did you find challenging about this book?

The main challenge was to keep it light and fun and exciting and a great read at the story level, but at the same time get in the zombie traits I believe we can learn from, and actually put them right out there, rather than dancing around them and hiding them underneath the story.

What does your book offer the reader that differs from others covering similar subjects?

Well, there have been one or two zombie stories out there in the last little bit, but none of them take the angle that the zombies are actually the inspirational ones! Not the humans who fight them, but actually the zombies! They're so good, I could kiss them ... if it didn't gross me out so much it almost makes me want to throw up.

How did the idea for this book come about?

I had been playing around with it for a few years, as I love self-improvement and I love zombies, but it was at a Tony Robbins seminar in 2015 that I suddenly knew it was what I wanted/needed to do, and from that point on I got stuck into it and now, a year and a month later, here it is!
