A frog named Todd lives in Blue Pond.

Todd has a kind and friendly nature, but he is unhappy.

The neighbouring frogs tease Todd because his name sounds like “toad.”

“Are you frog or are you toad?” they ask.

One day, Todd decides to leave home and start a new life …

Q. Tell us about yourself.

My family and I migrated to Australia from Ukraine in 2002. Since then I have been living in Melbourne with my immediate family. I love going to Zumba classes at Fernwood fitness club and long walks with my husband and a family dog Mack. All my spare time I dedicate to my writing and publishing career.

Q. What is your book about?

FROG TODD is my first rhyming picture book. It has been brilliantly illustrated by Marina Kite and published by our boutique team at VOLYA PRESS.

This rhyming story introduces a young frog whose name, 'Todd' causes him to be the target of taunting by other frogs. It becomes too much and he leaves his pond on a journey of personal discovery.

Q. Who is your target audience for this book?

This book suits readers aged 4–8, and will be cherished by families and recommended by teachers and librarians. It is a wonderful addition to your home or school library.

Q. What aspects did you find challenging about this book?

Almost everything what you do for the first time in you life is challenging. FROG TODD is my first self-published book.

Q. Why does your book offer the reader that differs from others covering similar subjects?

Calling or twisting other people’s names is one of the forms of bullying, which has to be addressed as early as possible to avoid further complications in child’s life. I was searching for acceptable literature for young children on this issue with a little success, when came to a decision to create FROG TODD.

FROG TODD is a picture book for young readers with amazing illustrations complimenting the rhyming text. There are also 4 colouring in pages for the children to revise the story after finishing reading.

Q. How did the idea for this book come about?

In recent years, the problem of bullying in schools has become widely recognizable, especially by teachers. But this issue in preschools and kindergartens, in my opinion, has been overlooked. I have been working as an emergency kindergarten teacher over 10 years, and have observed hundreds of cases of this behavior when relieving in early childhood settings. As a teacher, I recognize our important educational role in guiding a child’s social and emotional development and well-being.
