One of the most common questions for aspiring writers is where do I find reputable and up to date information about publishing opportunities?
Buzz Words, a fortnightly e-zine, was recommended to me a couple of years ago by a fellow attendee at the Creative Kids Tales festival. Packed with information on competitions, conferences, courses and more, with additional features, interviews and writing tips, here was a great answer to that question.
Founded by children's author Dianne (Di) Bates in 2006, Buzz Words is aimed at writers and illustrators of children's and YA books, as well as librarians, teachers, editors and publicists.
Di, a Lady Cutler award recipient and the founder of the Australian Children’s Poetry website, also has a team of industry volunteers who contribute e-zine content.
Di runs a Buzz Words no fee competition to encourage you on your writing journey, and is open to requests for content.
With an easy navigable layout, and something for readers regardless of their stage of writing, at only $48 p.a. for 24 issues you can't go wrong with this investment into industry information.* (*Price quoted as at April 2020.)
