“I wanted an intensive, in depth course that would cover all the major elements of writing for children. What I got was all that, plus the opportunity to work with an amazing mentor, in a physical space that calls out for books to be written, all wrapped up in an atmosphere of support.” This is a quote from a satisfied student (Caroline, Melbourne) about the Writing for Children course in Melbourne offered by this month’s featured organisation the Faber Writing Academy.

The Faber Writing Academy offers writers the opportunity to study with two of the world’s leading publishers. The Faber Academy was established by iconic London publishing house Faber and Faber and in 2010 found a home with Australia’s Allen & Unwin.

Well recognised within the publishing industry, the writing courses at the Faber Writing Academy are run by high quality teachers with experience in writing for publication and as successful authors.

From one day workshops to six month novel writing courses, you can find the perfect course at the Faber Writing Academy to hone your skills as a children’s author. For example, there is a one day course “Getting Published as a Writer for Children” with Jane Godwin and Davina Bell (both Sydney and Melbourne), a five week course on “Finding Your Voice” with Carrie Tiffany (Melbourne) and Writing for Children – Beginners with Anna Fienberg and guest publisher Anna McFarlane on Thursday nights in October in Sydney.

Manager at the Faber Writing Academy, Sam Twyford-Moore, who has been the Director and CEO of the Emerging Writers’ Festival, writes, “The Faber Academy’s record with assisting writers towards achieving their goals, includes a wonderful list of successful publications over the years. The high quality of the Academy’s tutors and students alike is something to be very proud of.”

The Faber Writing Academy offers high quality courses that will give you wealth of information about writing and getting published in the children’s literature industry, and in other writing arenas.

Each year the Faber Writing Academy also issues an anthology featuring work of students from both the Sydney and Melbourne Writing a Novel courses. You can apply now for scholarships to complete the novel writing courses for free in 2020.

The Faber Writing Academy provides a depth of knowledge shares experience within the publishing industry with authors from beginners to published authors who want to hone their skills further. Georgie Donaghey is among the alumni of students and writes, “I attended the Getting Published as a Writer for Children and cannot recommend this course highly enough. I was inspired, hypnotised and energised.”
