Welcome to Creative Kids Tales Adam Wallace.
I recently had the opportunity to interview the awesomeness that is Adam Wallace. Here are my findings on this very funny guy.
Adam lives in Ivanhoe, Victoria with his wife, Ashana and loads and loads of books. He is the author of over 30 children’s books including the Pete McGee series aimed at the 8-14 year age market. Pete McGee is born with only one arm and dreams of becoming a great knight. But before that can happen, Pete must save his dying mother, take down an evil king, defeat a monster that is hundreds of years old, and face his own fears. Just a day in the life of a wannabe knight.
He’s also the author of the very popular, Better Out Than In and Better Out Than In – Number Two’s. Both are truly gross but a must have.
Adam has discovered the Fountain of Youth and is eternally 27, but shhhh don’t tell anyone. If you want to find out more we’ve included Adam’s address, albeit hidden somewhere on the Creative Kids Tales website. We encourage you to find it and turn up on Adam’s door step. Unannounced guests are very welcome.
His computer is packed with unpublished stories, limericks and poems. Two of those stories will be available later this year. Jamie Brown is NOT Rich with Ford Street Publishing is due out in May 2014 and Adam has another one which is still hush hush. Keep an eye on his website for further updates.
For any author being published is both exciting and scary. Adam threw caution to the wind and self published his first book. Since then he’s self published, partner published and traditionally published over 30 books for between 0 -14 year olds.
There are now three in the Pete McGee and two in the Better Out Than In series.
Adam’s book, The Share-a-not emulates his childhood favourite author, Dr Seuss. In this adventure The Share-a-not not only doesn't know how to share, he doesn't want to learn ... or so he thinks. Eventually the Share-a-not's stealing catches up with him, and he is forced to make a choice.
The Share-a-not is on the NSW Premier's Reading Challenge list (Grade 3/4 level), and the Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge list (Prep-2 level)
He also has published The How to Draw series with 14 books in the series. Each one teaches children (or adults) how to draw a cartoon animal. The fun bit is that the instructions are a rhyming story!
So UFOs become dogs, roosters become rabbits, bums become cats and more!
You will find most authors now on either Facebook and/or Twitter. Adam chooses YouTube videos rather than getting bogged down with Facebook and Twitter although he does dabble in them from time to time.
There are lots more stories to come from this author, what you see is only the tip of the iceberg.
His website lists his favourite word as AWESOME and we think it pretty much sums up this month’s featured author.
