Welcome to Creative Kids Tales DC Green.
One thing I have found while researching DC Green. He is a bit of an enigma!
Where did he come from? Does he prefer chocolate or strawberry milk? What does DC stand for? Who is DC Green?
Well I learnt he likes to surf, write, surf, tell it like it is oh and did I mention surf? But best of all he likes to write for children and his books aren’t half bad.
He’s had five children’s books published, including the Erasmus James series: a fantasy trilogy for 7-107 year olds. The series introduces us to boy genius, Erasmus James. There is also a talking horse with flatulence issues, giant mutant chooks and the threat of intergalactic war.
DC Green has also written a gross horror-superhero-comedy, Stinky Squad, and a funny picture book, Three Little Surfer Pigs.
He lives in Ulladulla on the NSW South Coast and attributes his first three books being written whilst still in the womb. But in all seriousness, DC’s life pre children’s author was as a surf journalist. This combined his love of surfing with writing and travelling. A dream job! DC wrote over 2000 articles for magazines and newspapers and has been published in 30 countries. He’s travelled the world and met loads of colourful personalities along the way. Sadly during his surf reporter days he battled against a tropical reef and lost, losing part of his cheek and not the one on his face. Ouch!
He has also written a graphic novel for adults, Lash Clone Returns to Vortex and contributed to a dozen anthologies.
As a child DC demonstrated his creative flare with a comic strip he wrote and illustrated called, Radical Radical. It centered around a character who took on the characteristics of cricketer Dennis Lillee and included a talking dog called Harold. Together they had adventures all over world, even including a trip to both Heaven and Hell.
Still on the hunt for more information about this author I discovered his Facebook Author page, which states the following:
DC Green: children's author, surf journalist, cat-wrangler, ninja chef, dad & former class clown and pro jelly wrestler. Hmmm still no clue as to what DC stands for.
I dug deeper and found his personal interests a part from surfing and writing include: Reading, travelling, dadding, skylarking, jelly wrestling, chortling, tomfoolery, eating, snoring, inspiring and being inspired.
I did discover DC’s inspiration for Erasmus James came from his daughter and step son who wanted a story with lots of jokes, ninja horses, mutant chooks, space travel and a cracking story-line. Erasmus was born.
Check out his blog: dcgreenyarns.blogspot.com.au there’s lots of great information about DC and his books.
And while DC’s identity remains safe - for now one thing is for certain. He’s side-splittingly funny and knows how to write a fantastic story, well lots of them actually.
DC’s books are on sale everywhere and if you can’t find them you’re probably in the wrong shop!
