As well as successfully completing a course in writing children’s stories through Adelaide TAFE: Centre for The Arts, Lesley Reed has published a children’s novel, several children’s short stories and published one or two stories for adults too.
In 2007 one of these stories for adults, Jess Loves Chocolate, was shortlisted in the Wirra Wirra Short Story Awards during the South Australian Writers’ Festival. It was subsequently published in ‘Alone, Together’, an anthology of twenty short stories chosen from the 200 entries in the Awards.
A Perfect Family was published in ‘Short and Twisted 2011’, an anthology of short stories for adults, published by Celapene Press.
In terms of children’s stories, in 2010 The Happening was shortlisted in Celapene Press’s Charlotte Duncan Children’s Short Story Awards.
Daddy’s Doves and Little Green Man both achieved Highly Commended Awards in Jelli-Beanz Publishing’s 2011 Marshall Allan Hill Children’s Short Story awards.
Three stories, Gabby’s Garden, Faraway Friends and A Loud Flock of Rainbows, are included in ‘Charms’, an anthology of children’s stories published in 2013 by Prints Charming Books.
Four children’s poems, Jumping Gym, In Dreams I Am a Different Me, Grandpa’s Magic Stick and When a Rainbow Smiles Upside Down are included in a Prints Charming Books anthology.
Another two of Lesley’s children’s stories, Mouse Mayhem and Bouncy Bolts for Home are part of Zoothology, a Prints Charming Books project.
