Liane Morris
Liane Morris is an aspiring author of children's fiction. A keen traveller, Liane has used her experiences in exotic locations as well as the quirks of her 2 young boys to inspire her stories, which include a junior chapter book time slip series, several picture books and ideas for a middle grade chapter book series. Personally, Liane is outgoing (she does have a drama degree!) and believes that we create our own reality.
Liane has a degree in English and Drama from Newcastle University and has been studying Creative Writing and Writing for Children at the Creative Wordshop with Ed Wright and Jess Black on and off since late 2015.
In 2018 she became the Vice-President of the Newcastle branch of the Children's Book Council of Australia in order to utilise her arts marketing background for the good of the children’s book industry. She had a great year that culminated in a wonderful CBCA Newcastle event at Newcastle City Library with nearly 200 children and local authors and illustrators in attendance. In 2019 she took a full time job in a local charity and has had to step down from her role at CBCA Newcastle.
Liane attended the CYA Conference in 2017 and had good feedback from publishers and the conference competition. She attended KidLitVic in 2018, meeting loads of fabulous writers, illustrators and publishers and learning heaps. In 2019 she attended the CKT Writers Festival and had some excellent manuscript assessments with invitations to resubmit. She is a member of SCBWI and the NSW Writer’s Centre and attends as many writer's workshops, conferences and festivals as she can. She stays up to date on social media in groups like The Duck Pond and So You Want To Be A Writer.
