Maura Pierlot is an emerging author and playwright whose first title (a music-themed children’s picture book, The Trouble in Tune Town, launched in May 2018), has received international recognition and is already in its second print run.
On the strength of her yet unpublished YA manuscript, Freefalling, Maura was named Winner of the CBCA NSW Aspiring Writers Mentorship Program 2017 and Recipient of the Charlotte Waring Barton Award. Maura’s current play, Fragments (a series of interconnected monologues on mental health issues performed by young people), will be performed in Sydney in late 2018 and Canberra in early 2019.
A former medical journalist, ethics advisor and small business owner, Maura has a PhD in philosophy (ethics) and enjoys writing about memory, perception and identity. She lives in Canberra with her partner, Kieran, and their three teenage children.
