I live in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW on a cattle property where we breed Wagyu cattle. I am a voracious reader and I also write every day, as I am blessed with space and peace in an inspiring landscape, enclosed in a soft valley circled by violet mountain ranges.
I write short stories and poetry for adults and children, some inspired by my rural surroundings and the impact that the seasons and climate changes have on the land.
I am also a freelance journalist and I write for a number of magazines, including Outback, Country Living and New England Home. There seem to be unlimited stories about artists, writers, craftsmen and other fantastic members of the rural community so that I never run out of material.
I have won numerous awards for children’s poems and adult short stories but in the last few years I have turned my focus to learning all I can about writing picture book texts. I have joined SCWBI and the ASA and I try to get to events that are held in Sydney even though it is a 3 and a half hour drive.
I also belong to a writing group called Warrah Writers and we meet each month in an old hall in the middle of a paddock, where we share stories, many cups of tea and scones. We have produced two anthologies and are about to embark on a third.
