Witches’ Britches, Itches & Twitches By Mark Carthew
Published by IP Kidz Publication
In the beginning we are warned “Beware, Witches and friends only beyond this point.”
With chapter headings like Fearless Frogs and Wizard Dogs, Noses in Poses and an Ode To Toads, I knew I was in for a very entertaining read.
The pages are peppered with poems galore, rollicking riddles, an abundance of Knock Knock jokes, a very unique snakes and ladders game, and last but not least, a highly entertaining Witches Hall of Fame.
I believe both reluctant and advanced readers would enjoy this book, as the riddles and poems will stretch their vocabulary and imagination. In addition, the fantastic sketch style illustrations of witches, toads, bats and all manner of ghoulish things, give this book loads of character, and greatly enhance the reader’s enjoyment.
I can see this accompanying many a long car trip, or even a short ride to school, for kids who love a good joke book, and let’s face it, most kids love a good joke book. This is certainly one I would recommend to kids aged 7-10.
