Wimpy Shrimpy by Matt Buckingham
Published by Little Tiger Press
Wimpy Shrimpy is a new addition to the childhood series written by U.K based author Matt Buckingham. Matt writes of a little shrimp who allows his fright of being hurt, lost or tangled, stifle his chances of making friends or becoming involved in all games most kids play. This brings about a series of "what if" scenarios i.e What if he got lost while playing 'Hide and Seek'? What if he got squashed playing 'Catch'? 'What if he got hurt?' etc.
I like the morale of this story: "What if all his friends lost interest if he would never play with them?"
"What if he one day found himself alone with no friends, because he wouldn't join in?" Then: would Wimpy Shrimpy perhaps try a little harder to gain some courage and have fun with his new friends instead of missing out?
This is a lovely book. Vibrant, cute and perfect for any unsure, young reader about to attend anything for the first time. Be it school, ballet, a birthday party or football.
It’s a confidence booster for anyone at that tender age.
