Connected by Nathaniel Eckstrom
Published by JoJo Publishing
Nathaniel Eckstrom tells the story of the quirky residents who live together in an apartment block. The story is called Connected and Eckstrom has both written and illustrated the book. Eckstrom has explored the way people are connected when they live close together. He has cleverly linked the residents together using their senses. For example, ‘The Spencers turn up their strange music to dance. Distracting curious Rosey, while she waters her plants.’ Eckstrom also uses rhyme to enhance the link between each person.
This is Eckstrom’s debut book as both author and illustrator. The illustrations enticed me to read the story and ‘connect’ with the interesting occupants. Eckstrom has portrayed the quirky characters perfectly, his style suggesting times gone by. The illustrations are in the same whimsical style as Eckstrom’s previous books including The Giant Bowl of Chocolate by Marion Lucy and The Hair Ball by Spider Lee.
It is nice to see a book about a different topic.
