Clementine Rose and the treasure box by Jacqueline Harvey
Published by Random House Australia
Clementine Rose is a sweet 5 year old English girl, with spunk and a heart of gold. Clementine Rose and the treasure box is Harvey’s 6th Clementine adventure. In this tale Clementine gets new neighbours, including 5 year old twins and their big sister. They are the Children of famous ballerina Anastasia Barkov, who is planning to set up ballet classes in the village hall. Then disaster strikes in the form of a fire and the whole village get together and try and raise money for the hall. With a little luck they may have just found the very thing that they need to re-build the hall in Clementine’s dusty attic.
A lovely heart-warming tale for the 5-7 year old market, this is English countryside literature at its best. Harvey is the author of the well regarded Alice-Miranda series and has shown that she can once again provide a lovely chapter book for emergent readers. It is also one of those nice reads that mother and daughter can share together before bed.
