Paw Prints on the Magic Sofa by Sarah Mounsey and illustrated by Jade Fang
I thoroughly enjoyed Sarah’s first picture book Purple Paw Prints and have been looking forward to reading the sequel, Paw Prints on the Magic Sofa. I wasn’t disappointed.
Eddie’s mum has purchased a new sofa. For the ‘gazillionth’ time she asks Eddie not to jump on it and to ‘get the dog off there too!’ I’m sure most mums can relate to that!
Friend William comes to play, and when William comes to play, strange things happen. The sofa takes on a life of its own. Eddie, Oscar and William begin a wild adventure aboard the magic sofa, travelling to exotic places and collecting a menagerie of animal friends along the way.

Like Purple Paw Prints, this book is fun, fun, fun all the way. It screams out to be read aloud because the text is so expressive. Even though I didn’t have a group of children around me at the time, I still read it aloud to myself. Jade’s illustrations are delightful and compliment the text so well. I can’t help wondering, though, how mum is going to get the paw marks off her new sofa!
