Oi Dog! by Kes and Claire Gray

Oi Dog is one of those picture books that grabs you immediately from the start, it certainly enchanted my little reader. The story is told from the point of view from a frog - a frog who knows just what it wants; not to be sat on by dogs. The frog has a challenge ahead of him to convince the dog that frogs are not for sitting on, particularly when the dog says "Frogs are all squishy and squashy and when you site on them they go PLURPPPPPPPPP!"
And so Oi Dog really comes into its own, this enchanting frog is attempting to re-write the animal hierarchy to ensure that no longer are frogs the chair of choice for dogs. No animal is safe in this charming tale, with everything from cats and dogs to boars and moths.
According to Frog, dogs will now sit on logs, unfortunately not as comfortable as frogs. Cats will sit on gnats and bears will have to get comfy on stairs. As we go through all the animals and learn about what they will now have to sit on, one question jumps out - what will frogs sit on? Much to the disgust of dog and cat, frogs will now sit on sun loungers!
Oi Dog! is beautifully illustrated by Jim Field with bold and colourful depictions which match the tone of the story well. The facial expressions on some of the animals as they try and get comfortable on their new lodgings is priceless; particularly the whale who has been lumped with a seat of nails.
A gorgeous story, which will be sure to capture the imagination of any young child.
