Lily the Elf - The Jumble Sale by Anna Branford
Published by Walker Books Australia
My book review is on Lily the Elf. I have already read “The Precious Ring” and I loved reading that with Mummy so am very excited to read another book about Lily the elf.
This story is about the elves having a jumble sale. Lily is very excited to see what all the elves are selling. But she looks at what Daddy and her granny are selling and feels very sad.
Lily finds Dad‘s old fish costume and granny‘s old hats and her (Lily’s) old cot that had a floating cloud then Lily said ‘these things (Dad’s fish costume granny‘s old hats and Lily’s cot) can’t go in the jumble sale. Lily is cross. Lily’s Dad comes in Lily’s room and said, “Lily we have too much stuff in the shed. It takes all three of us to close the shed door. What about we give the fish costume and the hats away but we keep the cot for a while longer.” Lily thinks that is a good idea.
It was the next morning and Lily and her Granny went out to see the other elves’ stuff and she finally saw the mermaids’ tail… but it was 10 elf coins and she only had 5 coins. Mallow and Finn were there when they come back. Lily was sad that she give away the cot. She got 5 elf coins for it. Granny and Lily ran as fast as they could to get the mermaid’s tail. They get there in time. When she went to sleep she saw the floating cloud from her old cot and she will never forget when she was a baby elf.
I rate it 9/10. The best part was when they couldn’t close the door of the shed because they had too much stuff in the shed.
