The Dog Emergency by Sally Morgan
Published by Scholastic Australia
This book is about Dillon and his brother Ryan. One day when they are walking home from school they discover a dog with an injured leg. The poor dog can’t move, so Ryan gets his billy cart and they take the dog to the nursing post. They discover that the dog needs an operation that will cost a lot of money. Dillon and Ryan decide they really want the dog, but don’t have the money, know their mum won’t want him and have no idea if the dog has an owner. They decide to try and raise the money themselves. Ryan and Dillon work really hard, but then the owner turns up and it looks like they won’t get the dog.
I loved the ending of the book, but won’t give it away. I think Ryan and Dillon were great to work so hard to help the dog even though it wasn’t theirs.
This book was easy to read and the pictures were great. The dog – whose name was dust was really cute. I love dogs and books about dogs so I really enjoyed this book. I think both boys and girls would like reading The Dog Emergency and I gave it 5 stars!
