The Sleepover (Lily the Elf) by Anna Branford
Published by Walker Books Australia
Lily the Elf is really excited because her cousin Fern is coming for a sleepover. She gets everything ready, books, games and even chooses her favourite food. Then when Fern turns up she is really unhappy and doesn’t want anything to do with Lily’s things. This makes Lily cross, but then through the night she realizes that Fern is actually sad. Lily tries to get her excited about a midnight feast. Granny is happy to help and slowly they start to cure Fern of her homesickness.
I liked that Lily and Granny found a way to make Fern happy. It was good of Lily to keep trying, even though Fern had made her feel sad too. They ended up having a good time, which was nice. I think sleeping over at Lily the Elf’s house would be fun.
This was a really easy book to read and the pictures were cute. It would be great for girls who are just starting to read chapter books. I gave The Sleepover 4 stars.
