Princess Betony and the Thunder Egg by Pamela Freeman
Published by Walker Books
Princess Betony is prone to accidents, especially if she has to keep curtseying to everyone. She’s not in luck though, her parents are celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary with a royal ball and Princess Betony has to greet all of the guests. Then unexpectedly a golden eagle interrupts the ball. The eagle is carrying a wren who has a special gift for the Queen from the Wild Magic of the mountains. It’s a Thunder egg. There is one problem. The Thunder egg must be collected from the Oldest Under the Mountain by Princess Betony.
Princess Betony must go on a long and dangerous journey to retrieve the Thunder egg and then protect it. She has many adventures and meets many characters along the way. The best character was the rock creatures. They were big creatures made out of all different types of rocks. Princess Betony certainly had fun dealing with these strange creatures.
I really enjoyed reading this book. My favourite parts where when Princess Betony met the Rock creatures and then when she finally got the Thunder egg. I think this book would be perfect for 6 and 7 year old girls. It is fun and has good pictures in it too.
I give Princess Betony and the Thunder Egg 4 stars!
