Secret Tree Fort by Brianne Farley
Published by Walker Books
Two sisters are sent outside by their mother to play. The eldest sister wants to read a book while the youngest sister wants them to play together so she tries to distract her eldest sister by telling her about her secret tree fort. The secret tree fort would be high in a tree, have a roof in case it rained, a trapdoor to a higher second floor so they see the stars at night. It would have a basket for snacks & emergencies, flags for secret signals. It would be a place where they could do cool things when not under attack, have a crow’s nest to see the ocean & a secret tunnel leading to an underwater viewing area. Best of all it would be made out of sweets. The two sisters argue the fort does not exist, until the eldest sister gives in & suggests they need to build it.
The illustrations & story line are worthy of praise. This book would be a delightful addition to any library.
