Nora and Nelly, The Windy Way Home by Emma Hogan
Published by Walker Books
With all this strong wind, how will the girls get from the beach to the camping park? They will need to get creative to see what works best. And perhaps with help from some unexpected friends, the journey can be a breeze!
Nelly and Nora are at the beach building a cosy sand fort. Nora looks up at the sky and discovers that the clouds are moving fast, and a bird is flying backwards. They leave at once because it means that it is going to get windy. But there is a problem. At the top of the steps the wind is too strong, and Nelly and Nora can't get home, not matter how hard they try. Until, the sheep standing in the paddock bunch together to make a wind wall, ensuring they arrive safely at home.
The Windy Way Home is a delightful book written by Emma Hogan, reminiscent of simply childhood pleasures. Young children will enjoy the shenanigans as Nelly and Nora try to get home. This book includes a make-your-own Nelly & Nora toy windmill activity. Just tear out the (perforated) last page, get scissors, pencils and drawing pins, and you can make four windmills!
Nelly and Nora The Windy Way Home is based on the Nelly and Nora TV show airing on CBeebies BBC.
