George the Bilby Chef and the Raspberry Muffin Surprise by Jedda Robaard
Published by Five Mile Press
George the Bilby Chef and the Rasberry Muffin Surprise is an absolute delight to read for parent and child alike. The story introduces us to a young Bilby, George, who is a whizz in the kitchen.
This book pairs delightful illustrations that really capture your attention with a story of a young Bilby trying to do something nice for one of his friends - Betty Echidna - who is celebrating a birthday. One of Betty's favourite foods is raspberries and George decides to bake his friend raspberry muffins.
However there is a problem, George has no raspberries in his pantry and he doesn't even know where the raspberry patch is. George embarks on a quest to locate some raspberries. Along the way he meets friends who help him to find a raspberry patch. George the Bilby Chef and the Raspberry Muffin Surprise shows how you can reach a goal by working with friends and each using their own particular talents to achieve the goal.
This book is the perfect story for any young child's reading nook, and gives you a lovely feeling while reading. One of of my favourite parts of this particular book, aside from the beautiful illustrations which have been done in muted tones helping to give the book a wistful feel, is the inclusion of a raspberry muffin recipe at the back of the book in a secret pocket - a lovely touch.
