The Adventures of Teddy and Karl by Rolf Svenson
Published by IFWG Publishing Australia
In 'The Adventures of Teddy and Karl' we meet young Karl and his teddy - aptly named Teddy who meet with Flora the nature fairy who gifts them with the power to speak with animals.
The book has 10 separate books all based around Karl's farm, and thanks to their special gift of being able to speak with animals the books are all the more special. My favourite book was 'Teddy and Karl Meet Ringo the Dingo' where the the pair of them come across a dingo who appears to be looking to eat their chickens.
Thanks to their special ability to talk with animals, Teddy and Karl have an inkling that something is a little bit different with the dingo. As it turns out Ringo the Dingo is actually a vegetarian and was more interested in Karl's vegetable garden than the chickens.
I particularly enjoyed the drawings in the book, the bright colours and farm scenery will appeal to boys and girls alike.
I can see The Adventures of Teddy and Karl appealing to both children and adults alike, a fabulous opportunity for parents to bond with their children over a bedtime story. The large book and text makes it easy for children to be able to follow along with the story. I can quite easily see sitting down with this book and finding out what Teddy and Karl are up to becoming a bedtime tradition.
