Lily the Elf -The Elf Flute by Anna Branford
Published by Walker Books Australia
The Elf Flute is one of five Lily the Elf books. If like me, you're just discovering this sweet, spirited elf, then you're going to love her. If you already love her, she doesn't disappoint as she battles to learn the elf flute before the Grand Elf Concert- tomorrow night!
Lily is excited about the concert, she's even written a special poem to recite, but it is forgotten when she receives a special parcel in the mail. Her very own elf flute! As it turns out despite her can-do attitude and hours of practice the elf flute proves to be much harder to play than Lily had imagined. She can't make anything but a strange whiffing sound. What is Lily to do?
Children will love the fact that although Dad and Granny are very supportive and give great advice it is Lily who will solve her problem in the end.
Lisa Coutts whole page, half page and smaller black and white illustrations help bring Anna Branford's text to life, especially cute little Lily in all her moods; happy, excited, determined, disheartened, proud and even just a bit jealous.
This large print, light little paperback, written in simple text is a perfect start to chapter books and series for 4-8 year old girls.
