Jo-Kin Battles the IT by Karen Tyrrell
Published by Digital Future Press
Josh Atkins, AKA Jo-Kin, known for his goofiness, has won the Super Space Kid contest with his nerdy mate, Sam Jones, or Sam-Wich. Winning the competition has its ideas of challenges, because they have to save the galaxy from a deadly alien, named the IT. When the IT captures Captain Astra, a close friend, they have to defeat the IT.
I personally thought this book was ok, it wasn’t the most exciting book but it had its fun parts. It’s all made up; so don’t go telling people about an alien coming to destroy Earth, haha.
My favourite character is Sam Jones, because he’s funny, smart and independent, which are all good qualities in a boy. He’s not the bravest, but he does his part well.
My favourite part of the book is when they compete in all the games to win, and it’s interesting and fun. Especially their first game of Laser Strike!
What kept me turning the pages was the idea of action, and also it is leading up to the big fight with the IT, and the training and humour of the book. It was a bit boring in some parts, but overall I liked it.
In conclusion I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, action and a bit of odd humour here and there.
Jo-Kin Battles The IT is quite a good book for those who are just starting to read larger chapter books and hopefully there will be more to the series.
