Pup Patrol - Outback Rescue by Darrel & Sally Odgers
Published by Scholastic Australia
'Hello! My names is Barnaby Station Stamp of Approval, but you can call my STAMP.
STAMP, James and Ace are headed through the outback! There's barely anyone around . . . but who does that empty car belong to?
Some tourists are lost in the hot and dusty desert! The Pup Patrol is on the trail—but will they track them down in time?'
What a wonderful (wunderber) read! Authors, Darrel and Sally Odgers have combined fact and fiction together in a chapter book with perfect balance. Written from the point of view of STAMP (a border collie), we adventure to the far north of Australia. With clever writing, Darrel and Sally Odgers weave outback survival strategies into the story. But what I really loved were the facts about dog behaviour at the end of each chapter. I now know what it means when my dog bows down on his front elbows with his rump in the air - apparently dogs do that when inviting a friend to play with them.
Pup Patrol - Outback Rescue, is an fantastic book to read as either shared reading, or as an independent reader. I particularly enjoyed the clues left in the outback, the play on words and how James Barnaby, the owner of the two dogs, treats his four legged furry best friends with absolute care and respect, which the dogs return to him with pawfect love.
