Alana Oakley - Torment & Trickery by Poppy Inkwell
Published by Big Sky Publishing
Alana Oakley attends Gibson High with her friends, Sofia, Khalilah and Maddie and are all looking forward to starting Year 8 as they will ‘no longer at the Bottom of the Food Chain.’ What they aren’t looking forward to is PE classes with Coach Kusmuk who prides herself on torturing her students and enjoys sending them to sick bay with multiple injuries.
Alana and her cohorts discuss normal teenage issues and participate in normal activities e.g. subject electives, relationships, clothes and possible boyfriends. Alana appears to be a very level-headed teenager which is surprising as her mother Emma sometimes acts as the teenager. After being arrested for reckless driving which was televised live, Emma is given community service in a boys club where she invariably causes more angst and embarrassment for Alana.
In between finding out what secrets the new boy, Flynn has to hide and Emma’s dating antics, Alana is kept very busy trying to keep everything normal.
