The Mapmaker Chronicles - Breath of the Dragon by A.L.Tait
Published by Hachette Australia
With a roar, the Deslonder dragged himself to his feet and turned on Quinn, pure fury in his eyes.
Quinn knew that he had to win this fight, or else ...
Quinn, Ash, Zain and the crew of the Libertas are racing against the clock to get back to Verdania before the King's deadline. Will Quinn complete the first map of the whole world? Will Zain bring back enough treasure to satisfy the King? Will they make it in time?
Or will their enemies stop them from getting back at all?
Author, A.L. Tait has created a nail biting finale of The Map Maker Chronicles - Breath of the Dragon.
I sank deeply into this third book in The Map Maker Chronicles from the very beginning, where I then became addicted to the continuing adventure of the likeable characters, Quinn, Ash and Zain. Once I had finished the final words of the story, I wished that I didn't have to say goodbye to the fictional characters that I had become friends with.
Incidents throughout the adventure kept the story moving fast. There was no time to close the cover of the book because there was always a need to know what would happen next. A. L. Tait leads the reader on a story of sand goblins, starstones, raining fire, theft, deceit, a collection of treasures, the saving of the baby of the mysterious sea creature, Nammu, to captivity, and escape, as Quinn, Ash and Zain continue on their crazy quest to finish the map the world and present it to the King, risking life and death in the process.
I highly recommend A. L. Tait's Mapmaker Chronicle - Breath of the Dragon, as a must read book for independent readers, and as a shared reader for classrooms. The inclusion of a map at the end of the book will open up the imagination of readers to recount events, and encourage them create their own Mapmaker Chronicle stories in the locations on the map - Mysterious Lights, King Orel's Palace, Verdania, Northern Lands, Tribal Village, Firenze, Athelstan, Gelyn, The Lowlands, Deslond, Cave of Starstones, Here Be Dragons, Meeting Place of the Oceans, Dorada, Barbarin and the Tribal Village.
