The Fairy Dancers by Natalie Jane Prior
Published by ABC Books
Like most young girls I was dreamed of dancing fairies, The Fairy Dancers, is a dream come true for those who dream of things just a little bit magical. The book, which introduces readers to three friends - Mia, Emma and Grace - who when they put on their dancing skirts, tie their shoes with ribbons turn into fairy dancers.
The book comprises three short stories each accompanied with delightful imagery which only adds to the story. The first short story - The Magic Slippers - sees Emma in need of new fairy dance shoes. Emma has her heart set on blue shoes, but goes with pink like all the rest of the students at the dance school. In frustration Emma paints her new shoes blue, but will they still be blue in the morning?
The Secret Birthday is the second short story which sees the three girls, with the help of their fairy mothers, throw a surprise party for Ms Ashleigh, their beloved dance teacher. In the third story, The Fairy Concert, Grace broke her arm right before the girls dance concert. With a little bit of help from her friends Grace is still able to perform.
The Fairy Dancers is a sweet book filled with friendship and fun, a beautiful read for any young girl or boy who likes something a little bit magical.
