Piglet Bo Can Do Anything by Geert De Kockere
Published by Sky Pony Press
Piglet Bo is a gutsy little pig who thinks positively, tries hard and with a little bit of luck achieves all of his goals. I love him!!
Piglet’s can do attitude seems to be aided by the forces of the universe at the exact moment he needs it most. He jumps over a field (read–becomes airborne thanks to a fierce wind.) The universe wants him to succeed and so do we!
Indeed Piglet Bo is so lucky that he walks on water with the help of an unwitting and slightly freaked out whale.
His attempts to fly are aided by a charging bull and an unstable ladder and to a less happy fellow it could construed as being knocked for six.
You get the idea. Piglet Bo is the Pollyanna of the Pig world and we love him for it.
The illustrations are a charming mix of bold colourful acrylic backgrounds that contrast well with the simple line drawn pink cheeked piggie, rocking his blue shorts.
I really love the pictures, they are awesome.
The text is tight and flows well, De Kockere is aware of Piglet’s prodigious good luck and gently says, “And then, yes right then,” before he recounts the fortuitous event. It’s like even the author can hardly believe his luck.
The important theme here is that if you want it, will it and go for it, you will succeed–you might need a little help but positive energy and faith in yourself creates opportunity.
And what a great message that is–
Believe in yourself! Be brave!
Too often we encounter, “I can’t do it … it’s not fair!” it’s too hard,” attitude. (Say with a nasally whine.)
“Yes, Piglet Bo really can do anything. If he wants to. And if he dares. And with a little bit of luck.”
I love his quiet voice of determination.
Find and count the shamrocks too! The luck of the Irish endorsed by a Belgium writer.
I love Piglet Bo! You will want to read about his travels over and over again.
