The Mapmaker Chronicles 2 Prisoner of the Black Hawk by A.L. Tait
Published by Hachette Australia
Quinn is the mapmaker of the jolly crew on Libertas. He has fun with all his friends, even the captain, Zain, has a liking for him. One day when they were casually strolling along in the forest when Quinn, Ash, and their friend Ajax were captured, along with a hated person, Ira. Ira, Ash and Ajax make it out but for Quinn, everything is fading away.
My personal favourite character is Ash, because she is so smart and brave even though she is a girl on a pirate ship, which isn’t allowed, but none of the boys knew until a boy called Tomas guessed and gave it away well and truly. She would always be as good as all the boys and then all of a sudden she was better than them! She is skilled, entertaining and befriends all the boys on board even though they know she is a girl, and the boys respect her. That is why my favourite character is Ash.
My favourite part of the book is when Libertas (the ship the main character Quinn is part of the crew) comes in and saves Quinn from being killed by pirates and the Black Hawk crew.
What kept me turning the pages, excitedly, was the suspense and mystery of the book as it went on. I would never have thought of putting the book down and not finishing it. Even though it was a bit boring in some parts I couldn’t stop reading.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good old adventure. The Mapmaker Chronicles is quite the adventure! I hope for there to be even more books in the series. The first book is Mapmaker Chronicles, Race to the end of the World.
