Juliet Nearly a Vet Outback Adventure by Rebecca Johnson
Published by Penguin Books Australia
This book is about a 10 year-old girl called Juliet going on an adventure in the outback.
When she was packing she snuck her vet kit into her bag, which took up nearly half of the room of her bag.
Her friend Chelsea, her brother Max (who is seven) her mum and her dad where all going.
When they got to the airport Dad found out she had packed her vet kit and was very angry.
When they were in the air they saw a mob of kangaroos. They drove to Juliet’s Grandparent’s farm and it took about three hours.
When they got to the post box Chelsea asked where the house was and mum said it was 3km from the box! Max rode a motorbike to the house while the others drove. When their cousins arrived they went and helped with the lick which is a mineral that cows eat when it is so dry.
Juliet’s cousin Jarrod did not like animals so Juliet and Chelsea tried to help him. He got to like them and when they were watching the cows on the fence Juliet fell in to the paddock and the cows were charging!
Luckily, Jarrod jumped in front and shoed the cows away. Juliet made a list of what animals he could have in an apartment and Jarrod was very keen to get one!
I liked this book because it showed to people that there is nothing to be afraid of with animals.
