Marly and the Goat - Our Australian Girl Series
Published by Penguin Books Australia
This book is about a refugee girl called Marly. She was from Vietnam.
When her grandparents turn up Grandma wants her to be a ‘ proper girl’, which really annoyed Marly because Grandma tied her hair and took her to school. Her friend Yousra broke up with her so Marly was alone.
Back at home Marly’s Grandpa had got a chicken and a goat.
But there was trouble because a neighbour was complaining about the goat to the council. Someone even threw a stone through there window. Marly’s dad drove her and Grandpa to council to have a meeting with a councillor and the neighbour Noelene, who was complaining. In the end they got to keep the goat and if Noelene had another complaint she would have to go to a real court!
I give this book 10/10.
I liked the book because it shows kids there is always a positive end!
