Just the Way We Are by Jessica Shirvington
Published by HarperCollins
The story of Just the way we are depicts five young individuals coming from families with different backgrounds and family structures. The story tells the reader the importance of a person with uniqueness that it is ok that they are from different mould. A person young or old is capable of loving when barriers are understood. Five young children from differing social backgrounds and family histories prove that acceptance of each other with differences is ok. The willingness to love and be loved will conquer all.
The illustrations will appeal to children because they are clear and fun and give the book a feeling of lightheartedness.
As a mum, I think this picture story book is great as it addresses modern day issues.
