Stuff Happens – Cooper by Justin D’ath
Published by Penguin Books Australia
Personally, this book is not my cup of tea. It was a little boring and too easy for me, as I like to challenge myself. It was very short and only 85 pages. On the upside, it has a catchy story and there are little meters at the end of each chapter, showing how Cooper Hodge (main character) feels, from super-sad to extra-happy.
Cooper is supposed to be going on his Year Five class camp with all of his friends! But this all goes pear shaped. His grandpa had passed away and it just had to, had to, be on the first day of class camp! But everything can become good. A famous rugby player takes him to Thunder River to his camp! But when Cooper sits down to enjoy his first day with his friends, he gets hammered with questions on his late grandpa, and the funeral. Cooper just can’t take it. The next day the class go kayaking. This does not go to plan at all. Disaster strikes Cooper as he’s paddling down the river with his paddling buddy…
In conclusion I semi-liked this book, because of the drama that happens and the major and minor resolutions. I would hope to see some more challenging things in this book, but otherwise, thumbs up!
