This novel is set in Brisbane and follows the journey of 17 year old teenager Blaine Colton. He is far from your Jo average teenager though, diagnosed with a genetic condition that had kept him wheel chair bound most of his life, Blaine has received revolutionary gene therapy that has allowed him to lead a relatively normal life. That is until nearing his 18th birthday when he is called in for a routine check up. He is told that his treatment was never approved and that now he is to be declared a genetically modified organism.
Blaine is kept against his will, and denied access to both his parents and his life saving drugs. He manages to escape and goes on the lookout for the Professor who administered his original treatment. Professor Ramer has disappeared however and Blaine is running out of time.
Aimed at the older teen market, this book is fast paced with just enough technobabble to make the science behind the story sound credible. Suitable for both sexes, there are mild love interests, limited violence and no course language, written by a Christian author, there is nothing in this book that would make me hesitate to pass it onto a 14 year old. An easy holiday read.
